# High Event Volume Alerts: General Availability

High event volume alerts for Event Stream sources are now Generally Available on the Growth and Enterprise plans. You set a rise threshold, and you get an alert when a source ingests more events in the last hour than it did in the same hour one week earlier.

You can now configure it yourself by going to Settings > Workspace in the RudderStack dashboard and clicking the Alerts tab.

See High event volume alerts for more information on this feature.

Why high event volume alerts?

A drop in event volume usually means a broken pipeline. A spike can cost just as much: a retry loop, a misconfigured SDK, or an unexpected traffic surge can multiply the events a source sends before the extra volume shows up in your warehouse or downstream destinations.

Low event volume alerts already cover the quiet case. High event volume alerts cover the rise, so you can investigate it in the hour it happens.

What’s new

Generally available: High event volume alerts are no longer in Private Beta. Every Growth and Enterprise workspace can use them without a separate enablement request.

Week-over-week comparison: The alert compares events ingested in the last hour with the same hour one week earlier. You set the rise threshold from 10% to 500%. A threshold of 100% means the source ingested at least twice as many events as in that hour last week. For example, 3,000 events between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., against 1,000 events in that hour a week earlier, is a 200% rise and crosses a 100% threshold.

Same alerting controls: Notifications use your existing delivery channels — email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, Incident.io, or a webhook — and the same limit of one alert per source per channel every 24 hours. You can also override the threshold on a single source.

A baseline is required: The alert stays quiet when that source ingested no events in the same hour last week, for example a source you created less than a week ago.

Get started

High event volume alerts are available on the Growth and Enterprise plans. Workspace-level setup requires admin access.

Go to Settings > Workspace and click the Alerts tab.

In the Event Stream section, set a threshold for High event volume between 10% and 500%.

Confirm at least one alert delivery channel is enabled.

To use a different threshold on one source, open that source, click the Alerts tab, and create an override. You need admin access or the Alert Overrides permission.

See High event volume alerts for the volume-rise formula and how the threshold behaves.
