In AWS, an event bus is a resource that is responsible for receiving the events from a given data source and route them according to the specified rules. By default, your account’s event bus receives rules from the AWS services. You can also set up your event bus that receives rules from your custom applications and services. There is also a partner event bus that receives events from a source created by your SaaS partner. The SaaS applications or services generate these events.

In EventBridge, the events are represented as JSON objects. All the events have a similar structure as well as top-level fields. The EventBridge rules use specific event patterns to match the AWS events on an event bus. When a particular pattern matches, the associated rule routes the event to that pattern to the specified target.

To get secure access to Amazon EventBridge, you need your AWS credentials to authenticate your requests. These credentials must have the required permissions to access your AWS resources, including retrieving event data from your AWS resources.
