# PagerDuty Source

[PagerDuty](https://www.PagerDuty.com/) is a SaaS platform that helps you prevent and resolve business-impacting incidents, thereby improving the customer experience.

This guide will help you set up PagerDuty as a source in RudderStack.

## Get started

1. Go to your [RudderStack dashboard](https://app.rudderstack.com/) and click **Add Source**. From the list of **Event Streams** sources, select **PagerDuty**.
2. Assign a name to your source and click **Continue**.
3. Your PagerDuty source is now configured. Go to the **Settings** tab of the source and note the **Webhook URL**:

4. Log in to your <a href="https://app.pagerduty.com/">PagerDuty account</a>. 
5. Go to **Integrations** > **Generic Webhooks (v3)** and click **New Webhook**. 
6. Enter the webhook URL obtained in **Step 3**, and other required details:

6. Click **Add Webhook**. 

## Event transformation

RudderStack ingests all events mentioned in the [PagerDuty documentation](https://developer.pagerduty.com/docs/ZG9jOjQ1MTg4ODQ0-overview#event-types) after converting them into the RudderStack event format. It also maps the following properties from the PagerDuty event payload to the RudderStack properties:

## How RudderStack creates the event payload

This section details how RudderStack receives the data from PagerDuty source and creates the resulting payload.
