General

What is Rudder Lookout?

Lookout is an AI analytics and activation agent for marketing teams. You describe the customers you want to reach and it builds the audience from your warehouse data, shows you what is in it, and sends it to the tools you run campaigns in. It also answers questions about your data and turns those answers into dashboards.

See Overview for more information.

How do I get access to Lookout?

Lookout is currently in Private Beta. Reach out to Customer Success to get access.

How do I get audiences and activation turned on?

They are enabled per workspace while Lookout is in beta, so they may not be on for yours yet. If Audiences and Activations aren’t in your sidebar, reach out to Customer Success or your account team and ask for them.

See Audiences and Activation for what you can do with them.

Warehouses

Which warehouses does Lookout support?

Lookout supports the following warehouses:

  • PostgreSQL
  • Snowflake
  • Redshift
  • BigQuery
  • Databricks
  • ClickHouse

Note that warehouse access is read-only — see Warehouses for more information.

Can Lookout change or write to my warehouse?

No. Warehouse access is read-only — the agent queries your data but cannot write to or alter it.

See Security and Data Handling for more information.

Audiences and activation

How does Lookout build an audience?

You describe it in plain language. The agent looks through your warehouse for the tables that hold those people, drafts a set of rules, and shows you the definition it wrote. Each rule can show you the data behind it, so you can see how many people a choice keeps before committing to it.

See Build an Audience with the Agent.

Where can I send an audience?

To the destinations configured in the RudderStack workspace your Lookout workspace is linked to. Lookout currently activates to Braze, Facebook Custom Audiences, Google Ads Remarketing Lists, Iterable, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

See Activate an Audience.

Does an audience stay up to date after I activate it?

Yes, if you set it to run automatically. Pick a frequency when you activate and the sync re-runs on its own, adding people who now match and removing people who no longer do. You can also set it to run only when you start it, and Run sync starts one at any time.

Can Lookout send an audience without me asking?

No. The agent drafts and measures an audience, but saving it and sending it to a destination are actions you take.

Integrations

Do I need a RudderStack access token to connect my workspace?

No. Sign in with RudderStack and Lookout picks up the workspaces you belong to, so you link one by choosing it from a list.

See Connect Your RudderStack Workspace.

Can the Lookout agent change my code?

No. The GitHub connection is read-only — the agent reads your repositories for context, and there is no tool for it to create a branch, commit, or open a pull request.

Can I use Lookout from Slack?

Yes — you can chat with the same agent from a Slack direct message or a bound channel.

See Slack for more information.

Workspaces and collaboration

Who can see my Lookout dashboards?

By default, dashboards are visible only to members of your workspace. A dashboard can be published to a public, read-only link only if an admin has enabled public sharing and a member publishes it.

See Build Dashboards for more information.

Can people outside my team use Lookout?

People outside your workspace can interact with Lookout in two ways: unlinked Slack users can ask read-only questions if guest access is enabled (on by default, but an admin can disable it), and anyone with a public dashboard link can view it. Neither can edit or change any data.

See Roles and Permissions for more information.
