# Manage RudderStack Plan and Billing


RudderStack offers three plans — **Free**, **Growth**, and **Enterprise** — each designed for different event volumes and feature needs. You can manage your plan, payment methods, and billing details directly in the dashboard.

## Plans overview

- RudderStack's **Free** and **Growth** plans are self-serve — you can sign up, upgrade, and manage billing directly in the dashboard.
- **Enterprise** plan users can [contact Sales](https://www.rudderstack.com/enterprise-quote/) to manage their billing and plan.
- New users who sign up with a business email automatically start a [30-day Growth trial]({{< ref "dashboard-guides/billings-plans/growth-trial.md" >}}).

Users on the 30-day Growth trial have a cumulative cap of **25M events** over the trial period. They also get access to various Growth plan features like enhanced transformations limits, unlimited Tracking Plans, bot management, event replay, and more. At the end of the trial, they can either upgrade to a paid Growth plan or downgrade to the **Free** plan.

- The **Starter** plan is deprecated and no longer available for new signups. For existing **Starter** or **Growth** plan users, the current plan benefits and limits remain unchanged.

## Access billing and plan

Go to **Settings** > **Organization** > **Billing & plans** to view your current plan, payment information, and invoices.

**Can't see the Billing & plans tab?**

The **Billing & plans** tab is available for self-serve plans (Free and Growth). If you're on one of these plans and still can't see the tab, contact [RudderStack support](mailto:support@rudderstack.com).

Enterprise billing is managed by the RudderStack Sales team.

## View current plan

The **Current plan** section shows a summary of your active plan. Here, you can:

- View your monthly event usage
- Manage your payment information

By providing your card information, you authorize RudderStack to charge your card for future payments in accordance with RudderStack's [terms of service](https://www.rudderstack.com/terms-of-service/).

- Update your billing email where you will receive all invoices
- View your past invoices

### Billing cycle

The billing cycle resets on the 1st day of every month.

## Growth plan pricing

The self-serve **Growth** plan is available in six volume tiers. You can choose between monthly and annual (15% discount) billing:

Note that self-serve **Growth** pricing is available for tiers up to 25M events/month. If you consistently exceed 25M events/month, [contact Sales](https://www.rudderstack.com/enterprise-quote/) to discuss an **Enterprise** plan with volume discounts.

## Overages

If your monthly event usage exceeds the volume included in your selected **Growth** tier, an overage amount is charged — it is calculated as the cost per million events based on your current plan's pricing.

Overage charges apply to **total event volume**, including collected and activated events.

#### Example

Suppose you're on the **1M events/month** tier with monthly billing ($265/month) and you send **1.5M events** in a month. 

The overage calculation is as follows:

- **Tier price**: $265
- **Cost per million events** (based on 1M tier): $265
- **Overage**: 500,000 events (0.5M × $265) = $132.50
- **Total for the month**: $397.50

## Upgrade or change your plan

You can upgrade your plan or switch between plan tiers directly from the dashboard.

To change your plan:

1. Go to **Settings** > **Organization** > **Billing & plans**.
2. Click **Manage plan**.
3. Choose the plan and event volume tier that fits your needs.
4. Select a payment method and click **Review** on the top right.

5. Click **Confirm & pay (amount)** to pay the prorated amount and activate the new plan.

Your new plan is activated immediately after you complete the payment.

### Purchase summary

When you change your plan, you will see the amount charged from the next billing cycle and the pro-rated amount for the current month in the **Purchase summary** section.

### Cancel plan

1. In the **Billing & plans** tab, go to **Manage plan**.
2. Click **Cancel plan**.

When you cancel:

- Your plan reverts to the [Free plan](https://www.rudderstack.com/pricing/) with a monthly limit of 250K events.
- You can continue using your current plan until the end of the billing period (1st of the following month).
